In 2002, when the Schweighofer Prize was presented to the public for the first time there was no guarantee for the success of this unique idea. In the meanwhile the Schweighofer Prize is fully established in the European Woodworking Community. This fact is to a high extent due to those enthusiastic men and women from all over Europe who have contributed with high-level applications to the reputation of the Prize.

The dynamic development and competitiveness of the European Forest-Based Industry depend on the continuous implementation of innovations within the whole forest-wood chain. Therefore the conditions for submitting for the Schweighofer Prize 2007 have been adjusted to the most challenging topics in order to meet the strategic objectives of the sector.
